Meet the ghost of Fort Concho
Back

Alice Kirk Grierson (1828-1888).
The daughter of preacher. Alice was well educated from Huron
women's academy. She taught school and believed in equal rights
for women. She married Benjamin
Grierson in 1854. General Grierson a Civil War commander took a post
in the U.S. Cavalry. She followed her husband into the frontier.
Grierson commanded Fort Concho from 1875 to 1878. Alice
died August 16, 1888
in Illinois from bone cancer. Based on audio recordings, we suspect
Alice is a spirit at Fort Concho.
Edith (Edie) Grierson (1865-1878). Daughter of
Benjamin and Alice Grierson. Edie was a free spirited young
girl who loved to dance and sing. Her mother made sure Edie was well
educated. Edith reportedly died of typhoid
fever shortly after her thirteenth birthday in September 1878. Her
favorite color is yellow. When asked how she's doing she would reply
"hunky-dory". She loved her father and her mother. She
loves being with children, and is very protective. Based on audio and
video recordings we suspect Edie is an intelligent interactive spirit at Fort
Concho.
Unknown cavalry soldier. Three times, our team encountered
a male ghost we assume is a
soldier. He is kind but stern. He seems very
protective of Fort Concho. He appears to be fluent in at least two
native American Indian languages, Apache and Lakota. His are the boot
steps heard on board walks and stairs as he patrol Fort Concho.
