During our initial interview one of the employees told us several stories of ghost encounters that employees and customers had had over the years. The first was that of a customer who was using the restroom.
The customer, an older woman, went into restroom, closed and locked the door. Soon she heard children outside the door playing and thought that they were trying to scare her. She opened the door intent on scolding the mischievous children only to find the hallway empty. She walked the hallway and even looked out the backdoor which led to a fenced compound, no children. She quickly left the building.
A second account comes from an employee who was locking up. She had turned out the lights for the night and was about to walk out the door when she recalled having not checked the backdoor to ensure it was locked. She turned around to go back into the building an saw a woman standing inside the building. She was startled, but even more so when the woman disappeared. She said the woman appeared to wear Victorian clothing.
Our team went to work doing research and tracking down the history of the building. Today the building is a martial arts dojo on S. Chadbourne, but in the 1930s and 40s it was a local grocery store and ice house.
On our initial survey we noticed that the old freezer room where Ice would have been stored had been converted into a restroom. Our Sensitive, Heather, immediately felt that this area held a secret. The investigation footage you see in the adjacent window was taken in and around this old freezer unit. We used a K-2 meter, Cell Sensor low frequency detector, a trifield meter, an Olympus PC-3100 digital voice recorder, infrared thermometer, and a Digital Blue digital hand held infrared video camera.
